ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Kendall Murray, Jess Mruzik and Jess Robinson combined for 52 kills to lead the way for the University of Michigan in the five-set (25-23, 22-25, 28-30, 25-16, 15-9) come-from-behind win over Loyola Chicago on Saturday night (Sept. 3) at Cliff Keen Arena in the finale of the Michigan Invitational.

Murray led the way for Wolverines with 19 kills, while Dowd led the field with 49 assists. Hannah Grant led Michigan in digs (22) and in service aces (three).

In a nailbiter of a first set, there were three lead changes and 10 ties. Robinson hit 83 percent in the set, recording five kills on six attempts. A Mruzik slam tied the set at 21 before the Ramblers took a two-point lead. Jacque Boney stepped up at the net to provide two massive blocks over the final four points to push U-M past Loyola Chicago to take the first set.

The second set was just as close as the first, but this one went to the Ramblers. Loyola Chicago pulled out to a seven-point lead late in the set. Dowd went on a five-point serving run to pull Michigan within three, but Loyola capitalized on a couple of Wolverine errors.

Michigan forced Loyola Chicago to score 30 points to win the third set, which featured four lead changes and 15 ties, but the Ramblers pushed past U-M to take the set and a 2-1 lead in the match. Murray did all she could as she had 10 of Michigan's 17 kills. The set came down to the wire before the Ramblers scored the last two points off U-M errors.

Michigan turned it around in the fourth set, cruising to a nine-point margin of victory. Behind the efforts of Grant at the service line, Michigan pulled out to a six-point lead and never looked back. Robinson ended the set with a massive 10-foot slam.

The Wolverines kept that momentum going in the fifth set. With Michigan leading by one point early in the final set, Haley Hallgren served a dagger between two Ramblers to start a 6-0 serving run. Mruzik also stepped up big for U-M, recording six of Michigan's nine kills. Mruzik ended the match with a slam down the line to keep Michigan's undefeated streak alive.

The Wolverines outhit the Ramblers over the course of the match, .296 to .253 while finishing with more kills (69-63), assists (65-56) and digs (68-56).

Mruzik finished the match with 18 kills, nine digs and two blocks. Robinson had 15 kills, hit 48 percent and led Michigan in blocks with five. The Wolverines recorded nine blocks and posted a kill percentage of .430.

U-M will be back in action on Friday (Sept. 9) when they take on Duke at 6:30 p.m. in Durham, N.C. The match will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra.
