KENT-The Golden Flashes wrap up their non-conference season on Saturday, heading between the hedges to take on the top-ranked Georgia Bulldogs at noon inside Sanford Stadium.
The Flashes erupted for 63 points and 353 rushing yards last weekend in a 63-10 trouncing of Long Island. Both the points scored and rushing yards are top-15 team marks in the FBS this season. Kent State spread the wealth around, with five different backs rushing for 40 or more yards in the victory and four different backs finding the endzone.
The defense continued to impress, holding Long Island to under 100 yards in the second half of the contest. Khalib Johns proved to be a menace in the backfield, recording his MAC-best fourth sack of the season amongst his three tackles for loss.
This will be the second time that Kent State has faced the top team in the nation and the sixth time playing a top five team. The Flashes took on number one back in 2016 when they traveled to face the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Despite having eight new starters on their defense, Georgia still possesses the top scoring team in the FBS, allowing a paltry 3.3 points per game. Offensively, quarterback Stetson Bennett has completed over 70 percent of his passes while not turning the ball over. Any Bulldog turnover on Saturday will be its first of the season.
