Beaches close after shark attack near Capitola - Santa Cruz Sentinel

SANTA CRUZ — A paddle boarder on Friday had a close encounter with a shark.

According to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office the paddle boarder was in the water near 38th Avenue when a shark bit the board, “narrowly missing him.”

As a precaution, several beaches from Capitola to Sunny Cove will be closed through Wednesday.
