WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - The Wichita Police Department (WPD) has located the truck believed to be used in the theft of the Jackie Robinson statue located in McAdams Park.
The statue was stolen early Thursday morning last week from the Jackie Robinson Pavilion. It was placed there in 2021 by League 42, a youth baseball program named in Robinson’s honor.
The police department said investigators from the WPD Property Crimes Bureau were able to recover the truck after working on leads all weekend. No arrests in the case have been made.
League 42 has started a GoFundMe account to help raise money to replace the statue. The league says any donations that exceed the $100,000 goal will be used to fund operational needs, including four educational programs.
Anyone with information regarding the theft, or where the statue was taken after it was stolen, is asked to call investigators at 316-268-4407, to make an anonymous report to Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111, or call the See Something Say Something Hotline at 316-519-2282. Case # 24C013618
