TEXAN SOFTBALL GAME DAY
Tarleton will grace its home field one more time Saturday afternoon with a noon doubleheader against Houston Baptist in Stephenville. It will be the season finale for the Texans. Live stats will be available for both games. There will also be live video for the games on the WAC Digital Network. Links can be found at the softball schedule on TarletonSports.com.

WHAT'S AT STAKE
Tarleton fell into a conference bye week on the last week of the regular season. So, the rest of the WAC will be competing against league rivals. The biggest WAC matchup of the weekend resides in Nacogdoches where SFA hosts Abilene Christian in a three-game series. If SFA wins the series, Tarleton will finish the season in second place in the Southwest Division. The Texans have already secured a top-three finish.

In addition to the second-place finish, the Texans have submitted a bid and are among contention to continue their season in the National Invitational Softball Championship (NISC). The Texans are looking to improve their season resumé in order to claim a spot in the lone postseason softball event away from the NCAA tournament. The NISC will name its tournament field on Sunday, May 15 following the NCAA selection show. The tournament will be played May 20-26 in Fort Collins, Colorado. For more information on the NISC, visit www.womensnisc.com.

ABOUT THE SERIES
  • Tarleton and Houston Baptist will meet in the season finale for both teams for a noon doubleheader Saturday in Stephenville. It will be the first meeting between the programs.
  • Tarleton head coach Mark Cumpian has a 4-7 record against teams actively in the Southland Conference with two of those wins coming this season against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (5-4) and at McNeese State (5-4).
  • This will be the first time since the 2006 season that the final games of the season were not scheduled conference games. It will be the first time since 2001 that the final home games of the season weren't played against a conference opponent.

QUICK HITS
  • Last weekend, Mark Cumpian eclipsed 350 wins as part of the Tarleton Softball program, including his 190th as the team's head coach. Cumpian joined the Texan coaching staff ahead of the 2011 season.
  • Georgia Capell leads the team with 14 home runs. She also leads all Division I reclassifying players in home runs. This marks her third career season with 14 or more long balls.
  • Georgia Capell enters the weekend having reached base safely in 18 consecutive games, which is the longest streak by any Texan this season. She is the third Texan to have such streaks extend beyond 10 straight games, joining Austin Germain (14) and Katy Schaefer (15).
  • Reagan Chism enters the weekend as the Southwest Division's ERA leader (2.63) and has allowed two earned runs or fewer in 13 of her last 14 games.
  • Tristan Bridges has 98 strikesouts this season, which is a new career high for her in a season. With two more punchouts, she will record her first 100-K season and the first by a Texan since Jordan Withrow in 2020 (106).
  • Amanda DeSario ended her debut season with the Texans by having ripped through WAC pitching. The freshman centerfielder from Keller ends the season with an 11-game WAC hitting streak still in tact.

CAPELL REWRITING THE RECORD BOOKS
Georgia Capell has put together a Hall of Fame worthy resumé. Against SFA, Georgia Capell claimed the program's all-time hit record, which marked her eighth statistical school record. Capell is now the program's all-time leader in games played, hits, runs scored, doubles, total bases, RBI, home runs, and hit by pitches. She is also on pace to be among the all-time leaders in batting average and slugging percentage.

BRIDGES CLIMBING THE ALL-TIME STRIKEOUT LIST
In addition to her longevity in the circle, Tristan Bridges has also moved into the Tarleton top-10 list for strikeouts. The junior enters the weekend with 302 career strikeouts. She now has her sights set on Brooke Saulters at No. 7.
