Box Score CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Oklahoma State's 12th-ranked women's tennis team saw its season come to a close on Saturday afternoon in Charlottesville, Virginia, as the Cowgirls fell, 4-1, to No. 5 Virginia in a tightly-contested battle in the Round of 16 of the NCAA Tournament.

OSU finished its impressive 2021-22 campaign at 20-6 overall, including a 7-2  mark in Big 12 play, in a year where the Cowgirls held a top 15 ranking for the majority of the season and reached the program's fifth Sweet 16 in the last seven seasons.

The match started with Virginia winning two of the three doubles matches to collect the opening point. No. 12 Lisa Marie Rioux and Ayumi Miyamoto had the third-ranked duo in the nation on the ropes as they led 4-3 over Emma Navaro and Hibah Shaikh when their match was halted.

Mhai Sawangkaew and Martina Zerulo dropped their match to Virginia's Elaine Chervinsky and Natasha Subhash, 6-1.

Oona Orpana and Dariya Detkovskaya got off to a slow start but rebounded, taking two straight games in a promising comeback effort that fell short in a 6-3 setback against Amber O'Dell and Sofia Munera of Virginia, giving the Cavaliers the point.

OSU ushered a solid response to start singles action, winning four out of the six first sets.

Virginia extended its lead via No. 1 Emma Navaro taking down 20th-ranked Lisa Marie Rioux, 6-1, 6-1.

Due to rain, the match was moved indoors. Virginia picked up a point with a court six victory from Sara Ziodato, defeating Alana Wolfberg, 6-3, 6-2.

Ayumi Miyamoto dominated the first set but couldn't close out Cavalier Hibah Shaikh, dropping the match, 6-2, 1-6, 6-1, earning Virginia the match-clinching point.
