The iconic 'Stone Men' outside Helsinki Central Station were rocking a new look on Monday morning, after train firm VR dressed the statues in replicas of Finland's Eurovision hopeful Käärijä's green bolero.
The Finnish act's distinctive garment was fitted to the four granite statues in the early hours of Monday morning to mark the beginning of Eurovision Song Contest week.
Käärijä will be competing with his song "Cha Cha Cha" in the semi-final on Tuesday 9 May and if voted through, he will represent Finland again in the competition's final on Saturday 13 May.
VR's Piia Tyynilä told Yle that about 50 metres of fabric was used to create the outfits for the statues.
"It took four tailors working almost non-stop over the past week," Tyynilä said, adding jokingly that "fortunately, the stone men do not put up a fight when it comes to dressing them."
This is not the first time the 110-year-old statues have graced outfits or accessories relevant to the times.
During the pandemic, the statues were seen wearing face masks and vaccine patches. In 2017, the statues were adorned with 'Kiss' masks to promote the US rock band's concert in Helsinki.
The Käärijä boleros will stay on for at least a week, depending on the Eurovision Song Contest's outcome.
"Of course, we are hoping that Käärijä will win, and then I think the Stone Men will also celebrate a little longer," Tyynilä said.
