A renowned Indian sculptor is crafting a massive statue of Hanuman in Brampton, which will reportedly be Canada’s largest statue of a Hindu deity once completed.

You may have already caught a glimpse of the towering 55-foot-tall statue outside of the Hindu Sabha Mandir as you’re driving down The Gore Road in Brampton.

And while the sculpture hasn’t been officially unveiled that hasn’t stopped visitors from stopping by to take photos and videos posted on social media.

The statue is of Hanuman, a monkey-like Hindu deity appearing in Hindu epics the Ramayana and the Mahabharata. The piece was designed by Indian sculptor Naresh Kumawat, who has made over 200 statues in 80 countries including sculptures in Canada and a mural outside the parliament building in Delhi, according to The Indian Express.

A video posted on Kumawat’s Instagram page shows parts of the huge Hanuman statue being lifted into place by a crane. And while the sculpture is already up outside the Hindu Sabha Mandir but will be officially unveiled on April 23 to celebrate Hanuman Jayanti, according to reports.
