Normal, Ill. - Illinois State Swim & Dive hits the road this week for the Purdue Invitational Nov. 16-18 as the Redbirds put a cap on their fall 2022 slate. Action is set to get underway at 10:30 a.m. each day at Morgan J. Burke in West Lafayette, Ind.
MEET SCHEDULE
Wednesday: Swim Prelims at 10:30 a.m. // Dive Prelims at 1 p.m. // Finals at 6 p.m.
Thursday: Swim Prelims at 10:30 a.m. // Dive Prelims at 1 p.m. // Finals at 6 p.m.
Friday: Swim Prelims at 10:30 a.m. // Dive Prelims at 11 a.m. // Finals at 4 p.m.
California Baptist, Florida International, Louisville, Marshall, Missouri State, Northwestern, Purdue, Southern Illinois and Indiana State will join the Redbirds in West Lafayette this week for the women's invitational.
LAST TIME OUT
The Redbirds took home a pair of dual victories Nov. 5 as Illinois State beat Evansville 216-71 and Eastern Illinois 232-55.
Illinois State won all but one event over the Purple Aces and swept every event against the Panthers in what was a day full of victories for Illinois State.
Notably, Giulia Basco and Madyson Morse won a pair of events for four victories. Basco posted a first-place time of 1:56.10 in the 200-yard freestyle and a 57.67 for first in the 100-yard butterfly. Morse took home victories in breaststroke events, winning with a time of 1:06.47 in the 100 and a 2:24.53 in the 200.
HAMILTON HOMECOMING
Illinois State head coach Caitlin Hamilton returns to her alma mater this week as the Redbirds make their third appearance at the Purdue Invitational. As a student-athlete at Purdue, Hamilton earned All-America honors in the 1,650 freestyle during the 2009-10 season with the Boilermakers. She also earned Honorable Mention All-America honors the following season. She was a two-time Second-Team All-Big Ten and three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection in her Purdue career. On the national scene, Hamilton was a two-time Olympic Trials qualifier in the 400 and 800-meter freestyle events.
Hamilton was also an undergraduate assistant coach with the Boilermakers.
