WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — After League 42’s Jackie Robinson statue was stolen and subsequently destroyed in January, a new one is coming this summer.
Bob Lutz, the executive director for League 42, announced Saturday the new statue will be installed in early August. It will be identical to the one that was stolen.
Lutz said the league won’t be complete until the statue has been replaced.

“When it’s unveiled,” Lutz said. “We’ll feel like okay, we’re back. We’re truly back in every sense of the word.”
The cleats from the statue that was stolen were donated to a museum in Kansas City on Thursday.
League 42 has 46 teams this year and the season will kick off April 15, on Jackie Robinson Day.
