CHICAGO — The Tavern on Rush will close, marking the end of a longtime Gold Coast staple, owners announced Thursday.
The famous Viagra Triangle steakhouse, 1031 N. Rush St., will permanently close Jan. 1, owners announced in posts to social media. It’s closing “strictly” due to the end of its lease, the owners wrote on Facebook.
“We owe our decades of success to our loyal customers and hardworking staff, many of whom have been with Tavern on Rush since its inception in April of 1998,” the owners wrote in the note. “Chicagoans are invited to dine with us in the coming months to celebrate and say goodbye to the Tavern family.”
The Rush Street steakhouse opened in April 1998 and became a hot spot for local celebrities, with the Blackhawks bringing the Stanley Cup there.
It was also notoriously known for its weekly ladies night, where every Monday the restaurant raffles off a pair of Christian Louboutin heels. The heels, displayed in a glass box behind the bar, attracts droves of women — and men.
Tavern on Rush’s last day of service will be Dec. 31.
