Sideshow Collectibles has been releasing Darth Vader statues for decades now, but their latest Vader piece may just be their best yet.
Sideshow has revealed the latest addition to their Star Wars Mythos line of statues, featuring a very dramatic and stylized take on the Dark Lord of the Sith. The statue showcases Vader in the literal heat of battle, standing atop a crashed X-Wing with his iconic armor in tatters. Get a closer look at this epic statue in the slideshow gallery below:
Like the other pieces in the Mythos line, Vader is a polystone statue designed at 1:5 scale. Rather than being based on specific moments from the Star Wars movies, the Mythos pieces take more artistic license with the franchise. This Vader statue, for instance, alludes to a major battle with the Rebel Alliance, perhaps drawing inspiration from Marvel's "Vader Down" comic book storyline.
This piece could even be viewed as a sequel to Sideshow's previous Darth Vader Mythos statue. But where that statue showcased Vader in a moody, contemplative pose, this is all about the power of the Dark Side.
The statue measures just under 25 inches tall. The Collector's Edition version comes with both masked and unmasked heads. The Exclusive Edition includes two bonus accessories - a partly damaged masked head (clearly inspired by Vader's duel with Ahsoka Tano in Star Wars Rebels) and an alternate lightsaber blade wreathed in flame.
Both versions are currently available to preorder on Sideshow's website, with the Collector Edition priced at $630 and the Exclusive Edition at $650. Look for Darth Vader to be released at some point in January-March 2023.
Star Wars fans will next see Vader in the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series, where Hayden Christensen will reprise the role for the first time since 2005.
