A statue of the Blessed Mother at St. Gregory’s church in Dorchester has been vandalized repeatedly in recent weeks, according to Boston police.
The most recent incident was reported at about 7:20 p.m. Wednesday, when officers responded to the church at 2223 Dorchester Ave. and found that someone defaced the statue with an “unknown red substance,“according to a post on bpdnews.com.
Police were told that this was the fourth incident since mid-March in which the statue had been vandalized and each time the same red substance was poured on the statue. Only the latest two incidents have been reported to police, police said.
Officers searched the area but were unable to locate any suspects, police said.
The incident remains under investigation.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Boston Police District C-11 Detectives at 617-343-4335.
