James Corden Pranked David Beckham With a Botched Statue And It Was Perfectly Awkward - Esquire.com

Even with all the advancements we've made in 3D printing and understanding human anatomy, there still seems to be at least two or three very botched statues that seem to go viral every year. As the LA Galaxy prepared to unveil a statue of David Beckham to honor his legacy and career with the team, James Corden stepped in to prank the soccer star with a horrible fake statue. Instead of revealing Beckham's real statue, Corden swapped it out with one of his own creation—one with an ample behind, a massive chin, and eyes pointing in the wrong directions.

When Corden brought Beckham in to preview the monstrosity that would greet thousands of fans outside the stadium, the Englishman's reaction was initially quite polite.

Behind the scenes, Corden immediately loses his mind, saying, "He's being so polite, even though it's terrible." Beckham's even keeled demeanor doesn't stick though. The footballer becomes increasingly annoyed as he tries to negotiate a fix. He explains that his parents are coming all the way to Los Angeles for the event, and though he doesn't mean to offend, the statue is terrible. He ain't wrong.

Finally, when the whole thing comes to a head, it looks like Beckham is about to leave so a forklift pushes it off a ledge and destroys the whole thing. Beckham has the perfect response, saying, "You probably done me a favor there." Cue James Corden, who appears asking, "What happened?"

Ultimately, it's probably best just not to ever get so famous that someone would make you into a statue. But if you do, just make sure you're not friends with a late night talk show host because the results are going to be nothing but painful.
