The Carolina Panthers have traded former Louisville quarterback Teddy Bridgewater to the Denver Broncos in exchange for a sixth round pick in this week’s NFL Draft.
Bridgewater signed a three-year, $63 million contract before last season, but produced mixed results in his lone season with the Panthers. He threw for 3,733 yards with 15 touchdowns and 11 interceptions, as Carolina limped to a 5-11 finish.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Panthers will pay $7 million to Bridgewater this season, while the Broncos will pay him $3 million.
in Denver, Bridgewater will have the opportunity to challenge Drew Lock for the Broncos’ starting job. Of course he may have another challenger if Denver opts to take a quarterback early in this week’s draft, which sounds like a solid possibility.
