Bears Welcome Tigers to Conway for Tuesday Contest - UCA Sports

CONWAY, Ark. – The University of Central Arkansas softball team returns to the diamond for a Tuesday matchup against the Memphis Tigers. The Bears enter the contest 19-10 overall and 7-2 in the Southland Conference, while the Tigers are 6-20 overall and 0-4 in The American.
 
UCA is coming off of its second-consecutive series sweep over the weekend, as the Bears took three games from Sam Houston. Over the weekend, Cylla Hill produced a team-high four hits with a team-high four RBIs, two home runs, and led the team with four runs scored. She was a key factor in all three wins for the Bears, including a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth in UCA's 1-0 victory in game two of the series. In the circle, Jordan Johnson picked up two of the three wins for UCA in the circle. She recorded 16 strikeouts and did not have any walks. She threw a one-hitter in her first start of the weekend.
 
Central Arkansas is led by Jenna Wildeman who is hitting .458 on the year with a team-high 26 runs scored and leads the team with 26 stolen bases. Mary Kate Brown is second on the team with a .418 batting average with a team-high nine doubles and she is tied for second on the team with 20 RBIs. Hill leads the team with 23 RBIs and six home runs. Kaylyn Shepherd is tied for second on the squad with 20 RBIs and is second with three homers.
 
In the circle, UCA is led by Kayla Beaver with a 1.09 ERA and she has an 9-3 record. She is second on the team with 59 strikeouts, leads the team with 66.1 innings pitched, and has a team-high 10 complete games. Johnson is second on the team with a 2.36 ERA with a 6-4 record. She has a team-high 64 strikeouts and is second on the team with 62.1 innings pitched. Johnson's five shutouts are tied for fifth in the country and ranks first in the Southland. Rio Sanchez is third on the staff with a 4-3 record with a 2.37 ERA. She has tallied 29 strikeouts and has thrown five complete games.
 
This will be the 13th meeting between the two programs. The Tigers currently have a 7-5 lead in the series and have won the last three meetings, including a 1-0 victory in Memphis on March 6, 2019, in the last meeting. The Bears are 2-1 in games played in Conway.
 
The Tigers are led by Baylee Smith with a .284 batting average and a team-high three triples. Gracie Morton is second on the team with a .278 average and a team-high 22 hits. Kendall Lee leads the team with three home runs and 19 RBIs. In the circle, Chyanne Ellett has a team-high 49 strikeouts.
