Statue Of Prince’s Love Symbol Revealed For The 1st Time At Paisley Park - CBS Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A statue of Prince’s iconic Love Symbol was revealed for the first time Thursday morning at Paisley Park.

The statue stands about 11 feet tall and six feet wide and will sit outside the Purple One’s compound-turned-museum in Chanhassen.

The Love Symbol is what Prince changed his name to in 1993. It combines the ancient symbols of male and female together.

The symbol was used at the time to stymie Warner Bros., his then record label. It then became synonymous with Prince’s identity.

WCCO-TV talked to the executive director about why the estate felt this was a great way to honor Prince.

“We wanted to create to capture their visit here and a lot of places have those iconic entrances and moments so we felt with the beauty and subtly in a tasteful and elegant way to signify Prince,” Alan Seiffert, executive director at Paisley Park said.

Visitors will be able to see the statue (and take photos of it) without having to pay entrance to Paisley Park. However, the gates will be closed on Wednesdays.
