WOMAN CHARGED FOR ALLEGEDLY DAMAGING MANKATO STATUE - KNUJ

Police lights

A Mankato woman has been charged with damage to property in connection to a broken statue that was part of the City Art Walking Sculpture Tour. In May, Police were alerted that a statue of a woman holding a child outside of a Mankato establishment was damaged and that the child part of the statue was missing. Surveillance video showed 23-year-old Kaitlyn Erdmann walk away from the statue with the child. An anonymous caller identified Erdmann as the one in the video; Erdmann also contacted police and said that she had tried to take a photo with the statue and the child broke off. Erdmann stated that she would return the statue piece. The statue is valued at $5,500.
