OHIO CITY, OH, (Fort Wayne's NBC) -- A couple weeks have gone by for a Van Wert County woman searching for a Cincinnati Reds statue that was stolen from her late husband’s grave.
Susan Lindeman got a Ken Griffey Senior statue for her late husband Jimmie who died in 2018.
"I really truly couldn't believe what I was seeing when I was looking at it. It wasn't there no more,” Susan said.
Jimmie was a Vietnam veteran who served in the Army. He was an avid Reds fan and his favorite player was Ken Griffey Senior. When the Griffey statue was snatched from the grave Susan was very displeased.
"Frustrated, definitely angry and it's still unbelievable because I really wouldn't think anybody would do that.” she said.
Susan and Jimmie went to the All-Star Game in Cincinnati back in 2015 and that's where Susan got the idea of putting the All-Star Game jersey on the statue.
It took her two years to find a statue like this.
"That statue was so hard to find,” Susan said tearing up. “It was for him."
The statue meant the world to Susan because it helped keep Jimmie's spirit alive.
"It was very important to me; it was giving back to Jim. It was the last thing I could think of to do for Jim because the Reds were so important to him just like the Army was important to Jim."
And she thinks Jimmie would have loved the statue.
"it's so, ugh. It's what I was looking for and he would've been thrilled."
She says she knows finding that statue might take a long time. She hopes you'll let her know if you see it.
